Stochastic analysis of circuits living a digital life

Povzetek:
Gene regulatory networks are one of the most complex mechanisms that control and drive the cell physiology. Moreover, they represent the bases on which synthetic biologists try to construct artificial biological circuits with a digital response. Typical examples are logic gates, flip-flops and oscillators. In order to predict a correct switching behaviour of these circuits, a precise modelling and simulation of the system is often required. Here, computational approaches are indispensable. I will briefly introduce some general approaches that may be applied to the stochastic simulation and analysis that can be efficiently applied to synthetic as well as systems biology applications.

O predavatelju:

Mattia is a teaching assistant in the Computer Structures and Systems Laboratory. His main research topic is modelling and simulation of gene regulatory networks, which is a necessary step for constructing biological system with information processing capabilities. He is currently finishing his doctoral dissertation.
