A highly-selective program track for students with a strong background in mathematics, computer science, and/or applied statistics. The track features a demanding curriculum that focuses on equipping the students with the theoretical foundations and practical skills that they need to become leading data science professionals, researchers, or teachers of data science.   • Admission requirements and selection criteria in case of limited enrollment

In the case of limited enrollment, candidates are selected based on their undergraduate GPA and an entrance exam.

 

The entrance exam will include mathematics (40% of the grade), programming (40%), algorithms (10%), and computer systems (10%). The selection exam will take place in July 2026 at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Večna pot 113, Ljubljana. Prerequisite knowledge and recommended readings can be found on the DataScience@UL-FRI website.

  • Tuition fee is 14.700€ per year.

For applicants from EU, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia there is no tuition fee required. 

  • Scholarships available are listed at the website of the Public scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of Republic of Slovenia
  • The call has been published for candidates from the Western Balkan countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, the Republic of Kosovo, the Republic of North Macedonia, and the Republic of Serbia), offering €9,600 per year for living expenses. Applications are open until 2 September 2026.   • There are 8 slots available for international students. If there will be more applicants than available slots, selection criteria will be the same as for Slovene students. See information above.
  • Courses will be taught in English.
