Yesterday, the first European Summer School of Artificial Intelligence, ESSAI and ACAI, started at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science. The school will host 60 top lecturers who will share their knowledge with over 500 participants from 42 countries.
The event, organized by the Slovenian Society for Artificial Intelligence (SLAIS) in collaboration with the University of Ljubljana, the Jožef Stefan Institute, and the University of Primorska, offers not only an excellent opportunity for discussions about artificial intelligence, its advantages, and challenges but also aims to strengthen the Slovenian research community, which already ranks at the forefront of AI research.
During the opening ceremony of the summer school, attendees were addressed by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, who emphasized the importance of the summer school as a forum for addressing various questions related to the development of artificial intelligence. The keynote speaker, Dr. Jure Leskovec, a Slovenian computer scientist and entrepreneur, who currently serves as an associate professor at Stanford University and head of research at Pinterest, also addressed the participants.
The summer school will continue until Friday, July 28th, featuring 36 different courses, lectures, and two round-table discussions, titled "Artificial Intelligence for Science" and "Artificial Intelligence for Society."
