As a key factor in the digital transformation of the public sector and public administration, the digital support for processes is essential for increasing the quality of life, the accessibility of services and the long-term development of Slovenia. In accordance with the development of services and legislation, it is therefore necessary to develop software solutions as supporting building blocks that enable, accelerate and comprehensively support the engagement of various stakeholders in the implementation of existing and newly introduced processes as a consequence of the former. Slovenian legislation comprehensively supports criminal procedure also in the form of forensic interviews in the form of the Act on the Protection of Children in Criminal Procedures and Their Comprehensive Treatment in Houses for Children (ZZOKPOHO, Uradni list RS, No. 54/21) with regard to the maximum protection of minors and children as victims of crime. As a result, conducting forensic interviews represents a major challenge due to the critical nature of communication with minors and children, which requires special attention and can significantly affect the child's well-being. It is therefore in the interest of the stakeholders involved in conducting forensic interviews that the experts conducting interviews with minors and children are highly professional and experienced. On the one hand, to protect the person (child or minor) and, on the other, to effectively implement the criminal law aspect of the legislation. Due to the complexity of conducting forensic interviews, training future experts in the form of real-life situations is necessary, but at the same time difficult due to possible negative consequences. As an alternative approach, we can consider live adult role-playing, which require a high level of imaginative depth from the participants, and at the same time are not scalable and location-dependent. A digital support for the process of expert training in the form of a tool to conduct simulated interviews in a virtual environment can be a good solution to the mentioned problems, as it is scalable (allows for a larger number of participants), more accessible due to its location-independence and adaptable to various scenarios of different stakeholders on the part of state agencies. The aim of the proposed project is therefore to develop a tool for role-playing in the virtual world in the form of avatars with the support of the House for Children process and with regard to the further development and adaptations of various stakeholders in related interview processes. As part of the project, we will first analyze the process in accordance with modern approaches and practices in other European countries; evaluate the possibilities of implementing a forensic interview training according to the NICHD protocol to digitally support the implementation of the training process; develop a digital tool that supports the work process for conducting training or interview training and additionally enables attachments for specific related processes of other stakeholders (health, education, police).
