• DECENTER - Decentralised technologies for orchestrated cloud-to-edge intellingce
The Client : Evropska komisija ( DECENTER )
Project type: European projects
Project duration: 2018 - 2021
  • Description

The DECENTER project is an international research and innovation project between the European Union and the Republic of Korea, which will contribute towards the vision of smart construction, cities, homes and industry 4.0. University of Ljubljana leads three key project activities.

The main objective of the project is to develop a new robust, decentralized Fog Computing Platform that covers the full range of possible smart services and devices, covering the whole Cloud-to-Things Continuum, that will provide Artificial Intelligence application-aware orchestration and provisioning of resources.

University of Ljubljana (UL), Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering leads three key project activities: solutions for smart and safe construction, the development of the architecture of the new decentralized platform and participates in dissemination activities.

Together with our project partners, we develop knowledge and innovations in the areas of Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Edge Computing, with the decentralized features of the new architecture being achieved by using Smart Contracts and Blockchain technologies.

The consortium of eleven partner projects is led by Fundazione Bruno Kessler institute from Trento, Italy. It is comprised of a group of renowned research institutes, small and large IT companies, the National University of Seoul and the University of Ljubljana. The project is supported through the European Union's Research and Innovation Program Horizon 2020, the Korean Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IITP) and the Korean Government.
