It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pouriya Miri, a young researcher at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, and a member of the Laboratory for Data Technologies.
As a young researcher at the faculty, Pouriya dedicated his work to the fields of digital transformation and e-government. His doctoral research explored how digital technologies can contribute to more effective public governance and support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Building on his background in physics, he successfully combined his expertise with information technologies. He participated in numerous research activities and projects at the faculty and contributed to the development of innovative solutions at the intersection of technology, society, and the public sector.
Pouriya also brought a part of his homeland into our community. Coming from Iran, he enriched our daily lives with his openness, curiosity, and warmth, both in his work and in his interactions with colleagues. He was always eager to share his culture with others, inviting us to celebrations of Iranian traditions and helping us better understand the world from which he came. In doing so, he strengthened the bonds within our faculty community and built bridges between people from different backgrounds.
His journey ended far too soon. We will miss his kindness, positive spirit, and presence that helped shape our everyday life at the faculty. We will remember his dedication, his contributions, and the lasting impact he made on our community.
At this difficult time, we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were close to him.
