A team of students of the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, who developed the game Lia and organised a successful tournament in programming and artificial intelligence in March, advanced to the finals of the Rector's Award for the Best Innovation of the University of Ljubljana in 2019. The members of the team are Aljaž Švigelj, Gregor Robert Krmelj and Miha Hribar.
Lia offers a fun and interactive way to improve programming knowledge, research approaches to the development of artificial intelligence, and through competition and collaboration promotes socialising and integration of the programming community. Using the online editor or in a specifically developed programme on their computers, the players develop their solution and upload it to an online application where automatic competition between programmes of all players takes place, automatic sorting of solutions according to their quality and, of course, the ability to view and analyse all the games played. The first tournament, which ended in March, was attended by over 60 Slovenian students and the team is already preparing the first international competition.
