• Nowruz, Persian New Year celebration
Events
As an international institution, our faculty is home to people from diverse cultural backgrounds, each bringing unique traditions and celebrations. One of the most significant celebrations for Persians—people of ancient Persia—is Nowruz, the Persian New Year.

Nowruz, meaning "new day," marks the beginning of the new year in the Persian calendar. It is celebrated on the March equinox, the scientific moment when day and night are nearly equal in length, signifying the arrival of spring. In 2025, the March equinox will occur at 10:01 AM. Rooted in history for over 3,000 years, Nowruz is a time of renewal, joy, and gathering with family and friends.

To embrace this tradition together, we invite all members of our faculty community to join us in celebrating Nowruz on March 20 at the faculty canteen Marijanca from 9:15 to 10:30 AM.

Nowruz Farkhondeh!

بوی بهار می‌رسد از گلشن وصال
خوش باش کز بلای زمستان گذر کنیم
[حافظ]

Spring’s sweet scent from gardens bright,
Rejoice! We leave the winter’s night.
