Announcements

At FRI Piškot Seminar on Thursday, 13 July 2017, Dalibor Fiala will talk about practical usage of bibliographical databases. We meet at 14.15 in lecture hall 20.

Bibliographic Databases and Their Practical Usage

Abstract:
The established bibliographic databases have a number of functionalities and can, in principle, serve as search engines of academic papers, citation indices, or calculators of bibliometric indicators. Web of Science, Scopus, ACM Digital Library, DBLP, CiteSeerX, and Google Scholar belong to the best known ones. In this presentation I will give an overview of their main features and discuss their merits and drawbacks from an advanced user's point of view. This talk is a prerequisite for a follow-up lecture on the programmatic access to the data from bibliographic databases.
