• Call for Young Researchers 2026

We would like to inform you that the Call for Young Researchers for the year 2026 has been published. At the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, we have seven open positions for those interested in research work and doctoral studies.


At UL FRI, seven positions are available under the following mentors:

  • Prof. Danijel Skočaj, PhD (artificial intelligence, computer vision, deep learning)
  • Prof. Peter Peer, PhD (artificial intelligence, computer vision, image biometrics)
  • Prof. Erik Štrumbelj, PhD (artificial intelligence, conversational tools, cognition)
  • Prof. Zoran Bosnić, PhD (artificial intelligence, hydrological modelling, water resource management)
  • Assoc. Prof. Slavko Žitnik, PhD (artificial intelligence, language models, knowledge management, agent systems, semantic web)
  • Assoc. Prof. Matevž Pesek, PhD (digital humanities, capture, processing and interpretation of digital materials)
  • Assist. Prof. Petar Kochovski, PhD (trust, privacy and explainability of artificial intelligence, distributed ledger technology)

The application deadline for young researcher candidates is 8 May 2026 at 23:59.

 

Selected young researchers must be enrolled in a doctoral study programme leading to a PhD in the academic year 2026/2027. We therefore invite all candidates to the Prospective Doctoral Student Day at FRI, which will take place on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, at 16:00 in Lecture Room 19 at FRI.
