BEFORE THE EXCHANGE

 

 

  1. What are the application and document submission deadlines?

All required documentation must be submitted by May 15th via the University of Ljubljana (UL) online system (for undergraduate and master’s students). You will receive the application link from the UL Central International Office. If you do not receive it, please contact us at erasmus@fri.uni-lj.si.

 

  1. Which courses can I take?

You can choose courses only from the official list for exchange students. Please note that courses from regular study programmes are not available to exchange students.

 

  1. Can I take some courses at other faculties?

Yes, you may take up to two courses at other faculties of the University of Ljubljana. You can find the courses here.

However, you must obtain approval from the faculty where you wish to attend the course.

 

  1. Is there a limit on the number of ECTS credits I can take?

No, the number is unlimited. However, we recommend choosing a workload that is realistic and in line with your home university’s requirements.

 

  1. Do you offer internships?

Yes. You can arrange an internship by directly contacting academic staff. Please explore the available research laboratories here. Choose a lab and contact them to check if they can host you.

 

  1. Does the University of Ljubljana provide accommodation?

Student housing is available only for Erasmus students, but places are limited. Applications open on a specific date and remain open for a few months. Since there are not enough rooms for all students, some will need to find private accommodation.

DURING THE EXCHANGE

 
  1. When is the first information meeting?

The first information meeting is usually held one day before the semester starts. If this falls on a weekend, the meeting is scheduled a few days earlier.

 

  1. When do I receive EMŠO number (Uniform Citizen Identification number)?

You will receive your EMŠO number at the welcome reception at the faculty.

 

  1. Can I change courses in the beginning of semester?

Yes, you can make changes during the first week of the semester.

You need to:

  • update your Learning Agreement
  • obtain approval from your home university
  • make the changes in OLA (Online Learning Agreement system)

 

  1. Why can’t I see my courses in Učilnica (Moodle)?

You need to enrol in courses yourself in Učilnica. Enrollment is not automatic.

 

  1. Can I join any sports activities?

Yes, you can see all the available activities for you to sign up on POPR platform. Please note that sports activities do not award ECTS credits.

 

  1. How can I get the documentation of stay signed?

You can send the document by email to erasmus@fri.uni-lj.si. We will process it and send it back to you.

 

  1. Can I extend my stay in Ljubljana to the second semester?

Yes, but you need approval from the FRI International Office by email (erasmus@fri.uni-lj.si) and your home university as well.

 

  1. How do I arrange a residence permit?

You can find all the necessary information on this website.

 

  1. What benefits do exchange students receive?

Exchange students can access discounted public transport (Urbana card) and subsidised student meals in restaurants.

 

  1. Where can I join social activities?

You can join activities organised by ESN (Erasmus Student Network) or ŠOU Ljubljana.

 

  1. How can I learn Slovenian language?

You can enrol in a Slovenian language when applying to the faculty. It starts one month before lectures at the University.

 

  1. How can I get the confirmation of departure?

You can send it by email to erasmus@fri.uni-lj.si.

 

 

AFTER THE EXCHANGE

 
  1. How do I download my Transcript of Records?

You can download your Transcript of Records via Študis once all your grades are published.

  1. Go to the first page in Studis
  2. Scroll to the bottom
  3. Select “Print”
  4. Choose “Print exam grade transcript”

The official Transcript of Records is the one with the dean’s signature and stamp. It includes only courses completed at UL FRI.
