• Data Science Competition Awards Announced

On Thursday, June 5th, the final event of the Data Science Project Competition took place at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science (FRI). Finalists received awards totaling more than €10,000.


At the final event, the six best teams presented their projects. We would like to thank everyone who participated in solving the challenges: company mentors, FRI mentors, and students who put in a tremendous amount of effort to complete the tasks in such a short time.

 

The jury selected the following award winners:

 

First place was awarded to Marko Medved, Sebastijan Trojer, and Žan Mervič for the challenge Who’s a (the) good doggy? Identifying dogs from video, prepared by the DS@FRI program.

 

Second place went to Janez Tomšič, Matic Zadobovšek, and Matija Bažec for the challenge Developing an ML-driven recommendation solution for iGaming, prepared by the company In516ht.

 

Third place and the Best Non-Mandatory Team Award were awarded to Gal Zmazek, Lana Ramšak, and Jaka Vrhovnik for the challenge Graph neural networks for conversion rate estimation, prepared by the company Teads.

 

Fourth place was awarded to Jernej Avsec and Luka Bajić for the challenge Classifying companies by industry, prepared by PredictLeads.

 

Fifth place went to Philipp Liehe, William Bailkoski, and Gopika Krishnan for the challenge Getting reliable confidence scores for transformers, prepared by ZCAM.

 

Sixth place was taken by Erik Kodrič, Tim Dolenc, and Dimitar Nakov for the challenge Finding the most similar logo, prepared by PredictLeads.

 

The Never Give Up Prize was awarded to Anton Križnar, Žan Pušenjak, and Matej Vrečar.
