Since the 2012/2013 academic year, the status of student has ceased to be valid if the student:

  • graduates,
  • fails to graduate in a study programme in the first cycle within 12 months of the end of the final semester, if at the time of studying, from the 2012/2013 academic year inclusive the student did not repeat a year or change their study programme or course,
  • fails to graduate in a study programme in the first cycle at the end of the final semester, if at the time of studying, from the 2012/2013 academic year inclusive the student repeated a year or changed their study programme or course,
  • withdraws,
  • during the programme does not enrol in the next year or semester,
  • has been expelled,
  • completes postgraduate studies,
  • fails to complete postgraduate studies in the second cycle under a master’s programme within 12 months of the end of the final semester, if at the time of studying, from the 2012/2013 academic year inclusive the student did not repeat a year or change their study programme or course,
  • fails to complete postgraduate studies in the second cycle under a master’s programme at the end of the final semester, if at the time of studying, from the 2012/2013 academic year inclusive the student repeated a year or changed their study programme or course,
  • fails to complete postgraduate studies in the third cycle within one year of the end of the study programme’s final semester.

Students who do not meet the conditions for advancement to a higher year and who have already repeated or do not meet the conditions for repeating a year, must take a hiatus. During that time they do not have the status of student. They must arrange for their own health insurance at the Health Insurance Institute in their municipality of permanent residence.
If less than two years have passed since the student suspended studies, they may take exams at the price given in the valid price list.
If more than two years have passed since the student suspended studies, in order to continue studying they must submit a request for continuation of studies to the Academic Affairs Committee of the Faculty of Computer and Information Science.

STATUS OF STUDENT WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Students with special needs may request special dispensation in taking exams, depending on the type and degree of physical disability. Students who wish to obtain the status of student with special needs must upon enrolment submit a request for the recognition of such status, together with the relevant opinion of a committee for the categorisation of children and youth with mental and physical development challenges or the opinion of a disability commission. The opinion must indicate clearly what the student’s needs are.

The Academic Affairs Committee decides on such requests. In view of the student’s special needs and in agreement with the student, the committee determines the conditions and special dispensations in taking exams and in the study requirements.

The possible dispensations in taking exams include:

  • taking exams in an irregular timetable determined in agreement with the subject provider, if the student cannot attend the regular exam timetable,
  • extended time for written exams,
  • taking the oral part of an exam in writing (for instance for those with hearing impairment),
  • taking the written part of an exam in oral form, for subjects where this makes sense,
  • taking written exams by means of a computer or other appropriate and accessible device,
  • taking written exams with assistance (help in writing),
  • dispensations in the deadlines for performing obligatory practical exercises, seminar tasks and homework, etc. in agreement with the subject provider,
  • possible other logical dispensations in special cases.

The Student Office ensures notification of the providers of subjects concerning enrolled students who in accordance with a decision of the Academic Affairs Committee hold the status of student with special needs, and concerning dispensations and special conditions accorded to them.

The coordinator for special needs students is Asst. Prof. Dr Mira Trebar.

STATUS OF SPORTS STUDENT

The status of sports student can be claimed by those students who on the basis of the categories determined by the Olympic Committee of Slovenia - Association of Sports Federations (OCS) have been granted one of the following titles: sports person of merit, world class sports person, international class sports person, promising sports person, national class sports person or youth sports person.

In order to obtain the status of sports student, upon enrolment or by 1 February of the current academic year, and provided the status of categorised sports person has been granted in the period since enrolment and up to 31 December of the previous calendar year, the student submits a request to the Academic Affairs Committee enclosing evidence of the categorisation (Notification from the OCS giving lists of categorised sports persons or OCS certificate).

The Academic Affairs Committee decides on such requests and approves the special conditions of education. Possible special conditions include:

  • justified absence from compulsory practical exercises and lectures, which the student cannot attend owing to sporting and competitive obligations,
  • taking the oral part of exams in an irregular timetable determined in agreement with the subject provider,
  • taking written exams in an irregular timetable determined in agreement with the subject provider, but only in exceptional cases where owing to sporting and competitive obligations the student cannot attend at least half the posted regular timetable,
  • early taking of exams where possible,
  • help coordinating the academic and sports timetable (attending practical exercises with other groups or doing practical exercises from previous years, dispensations in the deadlines for seminar tasks and homework, etc.).

Based on a decision of the Academic Affairs Committee, the Student Office ensures notification of the providers of subjects concerning enrolled students who hold the status of sports student, and special dispensations accorded to them.
